On a dark, silvery moonlit night, Sophie is snatched from her bed by a giant. Luckily it is the Big Friendly Giant, the BFG, who only eats snozzcumbers and glugs frobscottle.
But there are other giants in Giant Country: fifty foot brutes who gallop far and wide every night to find human beans to eat. Sophie decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!
I love Roald Dahl and have enjoyed his stories for many years. The BFG reminds me of my childhood and the fun of reading stories of magic. This is the film tie in addition and has some lovely drawings throughout.
The story of Sophie and the BFG, eventually saving the world from the evil human eating giants, is fun, its imaginative. As an adult you can see some references, that probably would be questioned if printed in todays age, but still, overall its a story both adults and children will enjoy.
Everyone needs a little bit of magic.
PS. I read this in a day, then accidently got the book caught up in washing and sadly it never survied a washing cycle...
