By day, I work in accounts for a Soft Drinks company, which is why I blame my love of numbers. English isn't one of my best subjects but I feel even a little review is better than nothing after reading a book.
My reading habits vary, the start of the year I tend to go through a lot of books, then the summer months arrive and I get distracted by sunshine and drinks, so I tend to slow down. I try to pick it up again in the winter months; you can't beat a good book, a cosy fire and a nice cup of tea to unwind.
I enjoy the ability to escape reality and visit worlds that are much more interesting than our one. To find happiness within a book is just wonderful. I often get too caught up and love when I can relate to characters or storylines, it makes it even more real. Although I do have a kobo mini curtisty of my sister and a birthday present, I hardly use it. I much prefer the feel of a book, the smell, the physical cover, the prettiness of them. You can't beat a real book and you never will.
As with my reading habits, the genres of reading I go through can go from chic-lit and YA, to Thriller and Classics. There's just so much choice out there I'll never get through everything I ever want.
My favourite authors are as follows:
- Lisa Jewell
- Cecelia Ahern
- Tess Gerritsen
- Miranda Dickinson
I am very big on recommendations, I love finding new authors and books so if you ever have any suggestions just send them my way. I'll ignore the ever increasing to be read pile.
My book shelf currently looks like that >> the top and third rows are two books deep with the second row fast approaching that too. I will get through them all. But i can just stare at it for hours on end. It's so pretty! And tall. Can't reach the top shelves!
Other things I enjoy:
Concerts, Cocktails, Theater - especially musicals, travelling. I'm a huge fan of anything american. It would be my dream to visit all 50 states. Also
I'm very big on family and love spending time with my sisters and niece and nephews.
This blog was created purely for my own amusement. If you do happen across it, (then yay, I'm not talking to myself), I hope you find it useful for any books, you may wish to read.
If anyone wants me to review any books, then i am more than happy to do so. Just contact me on the above and i'll sort it out!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you would be interested in receiving a free copy of my newest novel, Raven's Peak, to read and review. The book is a paranormal thriller/horror novel and is being published by Kindle Press.
It is coming out in early July.
Blurb:
A quiet little mountain town is hiding a big problem. When the townsfolk of Raven's Peak start acting crazy, Abigail Dressler is called upon to find out what is happening. She uncovers a demonic threat unlike any she's ever faced and finds herself in a fight just to stay alive.
She rescues Haatim Arison from a terrifying fate and discovers that he has a family legacy in the supernatural that he knows nothing about. Now she's forced to protect him, which is easy, and also trust him if she wants to save the townsfolk of Raven's Peak. Trust, however, is considerably more difficult for someone who grew up living on the knife's edge of danger.
Can they discover the cause of the town's insanity and put a stop to it before it is too late?

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhen you are reading and reviewing books again, would you be interested in reviewing my book, Devil Out Of Texas ?
https://www.amazon.com/Devil-Out-Texas-Roger-Raffee-ebook/dp/B01L6O9X8I/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1472555961&sr=1-1&keywords=devil+out+of+texas
I just posted it for sale as an ebook in Amazon. Please let me know what I need to do or send you in order to have it reviewed. It's 449 pages.
Here is the brief synopsis I posted with the book:
In the summer of 1973, a fourteen year old kid spends time with his grandfather and his friends, George Burns, Jack Benny, Georgie Jessel, and others, as they play cards at the Hillcrest Country Club near Beverly Hills, California. He later sits down to listen as his grandfather tells him the action-packed tale of his great-grandfather, the first Jewish Texas Ranger, and how his grandfather came to Hollywood to become one of the pioneers of the movie industry.
The young man learns about how his grandfather came to be friends with the early stars of the silver screen, like Tom Mix, William S. Hart, Lionel Barrymore, and Doug Fairbanks, and his grandfather's association with the great Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa, the famous lawman Wyatt Earp, and other fascinating characters.
Thank you,
