Our hero Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house. She’s the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble, and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn’t know about his grandma.
1) She was once an international jewel thief.
2) All her life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels, and now she needs Ben’s help…

David Walliams has some very catching childrens books out there. This is the third of his I've read and probably the one I've wanted to read the longest. I first knew of this book, from the TV movie/show thing which was based off this book. I remember loving it so much.

The book is of a young boy called Ben, who is sent every friday night to his Grandmas house. He doesn't like going for his grandma loves cabbage and scrabble. All of which to a young boy are boring or vile. But one night Ben discovers his nan is an international jewel theif and together they consipire to take the most precious jewels the world knows. The Crown Jewels.

It's a fun book, with lots of wonderful drawings throughout. I enjoyed reading this as much as watching the TV programme. The ending of the book is just as sad though.

If you're to pick up any of David's books, I'd recommend this one first.
